Sandler, the successful actor who has starred in iconic movies such as\u00a0The Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy<\/i>, and\u00a0Grown Ups<\/i>, decided to return to his stand-up comedy roots by performing at different venues around the country in major cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Newark, and others. Produced by Irwin Entertainment and directed by Steven Brill,\u00a0100% Fresh<\/i>\u00a0showcases different acts of his nationwide stand-up tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"BlackBLACK GIRLS ROCK \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>ANNUALLY<\/span><\/h3>\n

Filmed in NJPAC since 2015,\u00a0Black Girls Rock<\/i>\u00a0is an annual awards show that celebrates Black women in fields ranging from technology to music. Last year\u2019s show was hosted by Newark native Queen Latifah. Be sure to keep an eye out for 2019\u2019s awards show.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"GimmeGIMME SHELTER \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>OCTOBER 2013<\/span><\/h3>\n

With scenes shot in downtown Newark,\u00a0Gimme Shelter<\/i>\u00a0is a Roadside Attractions film directed by Ronald Krauss. The movie stars Vanessa Hudgens as the protagonist Agnes \u201cApple\u201d who plays a teen living on the street. James Earl Jones also stars in the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheTHE DARK KNIGHT RISES \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>JULY 2012<\/span><\/h3>\n

This\u00a0Batman<\/i>\u00a0sequel was shot in several locations around the world with a few notable scenes shot at Newark\u2019s City Hall. This predecessor to the\u00a0Joker<\/i>\u00a0movie was the first to transform Newark into Gotham City.\u00a0The Dark Knight Rises<\/i>\u00a0was directed by Christopher Nolan and starred Christian Bale as the ever-brooding Batman.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheTHE SOPRANOS \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>JANUARY 1999 \u2013 JUNE 2007<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Sopranos<\/i>\u00a0is an American crime drama that revolves\u00a0<\/span>around fictional New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano.\u00a0<\/span>The series had six strong seasons and earned a Primetime Emmy Award and a Peabody Award, and several of the cast members won Emmys for their acting. Several of the series\u2019 episodes featured shots of Newark.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"WarWAR OF THE WORLDS \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>JULY 2005<\/span><\/h3>\n

With shots that feature the intersection of Ferry Street, Merchant Street and Wilson Avenue in the Ironbound section of Newark,\u00a0War of the Worlds<\/i>\u00a0is a Steven Spielberg sci-fi movie starring Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, and Justin Chatwin, with narration by Morgan Freeman. It is loosely based on the 1898 novel of the same title by H.G. Wells and tells the story of a dockworker living in New Jersey, attempting to get his kids back to their mother during an alien invasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"InkINK MASTER \u2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span>2012-PRESENT<\/span><\/h3>\n

Filmed in the Ironbound section of Newark at the Ironbound Studios,\u00a0Ink Master\u00a0<\/i>is a reality tattoo competition that airs on Paramount Network.
